A WEEK FILLED WITH INITIATIVES AWAITS US IN GABROVO DURING THE INTERNATIONAL FAIR OF TRADITIONAL CRAFTS IN THE “ETAR” MUSEUM

On September 4 until 5.30 pm and on September 5 until 5.00 pm in front of the Dechkova House you will have the opportunity to meet with two interesting ladies who are visiting our city for the International Fair of Traditional Crafts in the “Etar” Museum. Raghda Hesham and Dr. Mervat Elsaman of the Egyptian city of Aswan will tell you about their country, culture and art through jewelry, scarves and handmade bags that you can buy from them. Egyptians are visiting our city until Sunday and you can participate in their workshops on July 6, 7 and 8 in the “Etar” Museum.
At the fair, you will also be able to take part in Wang Wangson’s kite workshop from the Chinese city of Weifang. The city of Weifang is proclaimed the international kite capital and it hosts the annual International Kite Festival, as kite making in China has been elevated to true art.
The third city to send its representative to Gabrovo is Florianopolis (Brazil). The artist’s name is Thiago Furtado and you can see him working until September 15. He will paint on a retaining wall in the area of East City Street. His murals will be 150 sq.m. and he revealed that it would be a female image which he already had an idea for and it would have not local but exotic features. He likes his work to have a story behind it, and when asked what his most impressive work is, he answered that it will be this one in Gabrovo.
All three guest cities are part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and are presented in Gabrovo due to the fact that our city as well was declared an UNESCO City in 2017.
