Museum “Etar” Represents Gabrovo on the International Stage in Italy

Museum “Etar” is representing Gabrovo and Bulgaria at the prestigious C/ART – Creativi in Dialogo 2026 festival, held on 24–25 July in the historic centre of Carrara, Italy. Sabina Huneva and Elena Minkovska are taking part in the event, presenting the museum’s work, its programmes for safeguarding living heritage, and its role as an active partner in the international network.

The festival is organised by the Municipality of Carrara and Carrara Città Creativa UNESCO as part of the city’s programme within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of Crafts and Folk Art. Gabrovo has been a proud member of this global network since 2017 and continues to develop strong international partnerships that support creative industries, crafts, and contemporary cultural practices.

This year’s edition of C/ART brings together more than 150 artists and craftspeople from Italy and around the world, showcasing traditional crafts, contemporary art, exhibitions, workshops, and live demonstrations. The event places a strong emphasis on international exchange and on strengthening collaboration between Creative Cities, highlighting the importance of cooperation for preserving and developing living cultural heritage.

The participation of Museum “Etar” in Carrara is another step in reinforcing Gabrovo’s presence as an active and visible partner within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. The museum’s presentation contributes to promoting Bulgarian crafts and traditions to an international audience and to expanding professional connections among creative communities.

In the context of this ongoing international collaboration, Gabrovo is preparing to host the Annual Meeting of the Crafts and Folk Art Cluster of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, which will take place in September 2026. The event will gather representatives from cities across the world and will provide a platform for sharing policies, good practices, and ideas in the field of creative industries.
