The wood carvings of master craftsman Tsvetomir Minchev attracted enormous interest at an international exhibition in China
Six works by woodcarver Tsvetomir Minchev (a master craftsman at the Etar Museum) were presented at the International Crafts Exhibition in the Chinese city of Suzhou and attracted considerable interest among visitors. The wood carvings impressed with their larger forms and different character compared to the traditional Chinese miniature carvings, which made the audience stop, examine the details, and seek more information about the technique and origin of the objects.
The director of the Etar Museum, Prof. Dr. Svetla Dimitrova, emphasized that the participation demonstrates not only the mastery of Tsvetomir Minchev, but also the role of the museum as a place for preserving and vividly presenting traditions. In her words, it would be valuable for the master craftsman to not only present his works at the next event, but also to give live demonstrations – because “people don’t need many words when they can see how things are done.”
